Do I look like a dictionary?

I have an acquaintance who never talks to me, not even a ‘Hi’ half the time we find ourselves in the same place, but every few weeks, there is a :D and a ‘Hello’ in my Facebook inbox. So I respond, small talk is exchanged, and then I find out why she messaged. She needs help with her English.

Now, I don’t mind if every once in a while, or even very often, you need help with your English. I was there once; I know I annoyed many a teacher with my questions. What I object to is only talking to me when you need help with your English. As much of a wordsmith as I am, I am also a person, and I do not enjoy being used like a Spanish-English dictionary.

Really, it seems to me like a basic thing about human interaction. If you are friendly with me, if you take interest in me, I am more likely to help you and be glad that I did. I am also more likely to help you more often, and to give you better help. My point here is that if you want to manipulate me, if you want something from me, at least have a bit of courtesy and be human about it, fake it if you have to, or if that is way over your pretty little head, go buy yourself a bloody dictionary!
